7 Slot Machines You Can Only Find in Las Vegas

Many visitors come to Vegas for the gaming, events, or nightlife and stay because of the city’s uniqueness. One way our city shows off its style is with unique Vegas casino games! Some of the oldest and rarest games call Las Vegas home. Below are seven casino slot games and machines you can only find in Vegas:

1 – Classic Slot Machines at the D

The D, Vintage Vegas casino gaming.

Venture to the second level of the D Hotel and Casino and you’ll find a little slice of old Las Vegas. Rows of classic slot machines line the space, transporting you back to the city’s roots. The original Vegas vibe is palpable on the second floor and classic gaming favorites give you the chance to embrace the nostalgia. Adding to the authenticity of the experience is the hum of throwback jams playing throughout the casino floor.

2 – Vintage Slots at Main Street Station Hotel, Casino, & Brewery

Located near the registration area of Main Street Hotel, Casino, & Brewery are a few of the remaining original slot machines from Vegas’s not-so-humble beginnings. These slots used to dispense candy, golf balls, and cigars to lucky winners and they now serve as a fascinating relic from the city’s early days. Hotel guests and visitors marvel over the intricate details and old school charm of these slots. Though they’re not functional anymore, they pay tribute to the original glitz and glamour of Las Vegas.

3 – Oversized Slot Machines at The Golden Nugget

The jumbo Vegas slot machines just inside the entrance of the Golden Nugget are the perfect opportunity to go big instead of going home. The golden gleam of the machines is consistent with the hotel’s theme and often attracts a crowd of both players and onlookers. At eight feet tall, playing these slots is sure to please those who like unique experiences.

4 – Silver Strike at Four Queens

Perfectly fitting for the nicknamed “Silver State”, the Silver Strike dispenses both traditional currency and souvenir tokens containing silver. Most players choose to hang onto the coins they’ve won to commemorate their Vegas trip, although they can be redeemed for cash at the casino cage. This unique experience is perfect for those who crave a little variation in their casino gaming.

5 – The SlotZilla Zip Line

SlotZilla is the world’s largest slot machine, standing twelve stories tall. Perhaps the cherry on top of the Fremont Street Experience, the SlotZilla zip line delivers an adrenaline rush to adventure-seekers and an entertaining spectacle for those who like to remain on the ground. The zip line features two different levels, one is seven stories above the ground and the other is a heart-pumping eleven stories high.

6 – The Giant Slot at the D

As mentioned earlier, the second floor of the D is dedicated to vintage Vegas casino games. In eccentric Vegas style, there’s an oversized slot on the exterior of the casino’s second floor complete with flashing lights and a moving arm. Though this slot can’t be played, it makes for a great Vegas photo op!

7 – Sigma Derby

Sigma Derby casino game.

While Sigma Derby was popular back in the day, casinos have slowly phased it out because it yields lower profits than other games and repairs tend to be complicated and difficult. However, there are still two places in Las Vegas that offer the opportunity to play – the D Hotel & Casino and MGM Grand. The retro horse racing game involves playing against other participants, which can make the experience interactive and social.

Las Vegas’s inception in 1905 sparked the culture that birthed the Entertainment Capital of the World. With such a unique, rich history, it’s no wonder why rare and record-breaking casino games live in this city. Visit Fremont Street to marvel at the world’s largest slot machine or head to the D to play one of the last remaining Sigma Derby games. Seeking out and taking advantage of Vegas’ collection of unique games will round out your trip with a nostalgic nod to the past.

Konami’s Fortune Cup™ Mechanical Horse Racing at the D

If you’re in Downtown Vegas and want to try a new type of gaming,  the D is just your spot. Here, you’ll find the usual casino games like roulette, blackjack, craps, and (of course) slots, but what you might not be familiar with is the classic casino resident, the Sigma Derby horse race game. This game is so rare, it can only be found at the D and one other casino in Las Vegas. So what is Sigma Derby? This electro-mechanical horse race game is from 1985 and can host up to 10 players. You can bet on the five different horses in the race.

If you think that sounds exciting, wait until you hear about the newest game calling the D casino floor home. Introducing, Konami’s Fortune Cup™ Mechanical Horse Racing! This new game puts a spin on the Sigma Derby and creates an adrenaline rush for all gamers. Here’s what you can expect from the heart-pumping casino game.

Fortune Cup Mechanical Horse Racing

On February 28th, the D Hotel & Casino introduced their newest casino game, the Fortune Cup™ Mechanical Horse Racing game! The Sigma Derby at the D is already a fan-favorite and in high demand, so it only makes sense to bring in a new and improved version that offers modern improvements for the visitors. Casino goers can find this new and exciting game on the second level of the D in the Vintage Vegas casino section.

What to Know About This Fortune Cup Game

Created by Konami Gaming Inc., the new mechanical horse racing game by Fortune Cup™  brings outstanding technology and an unmatched energy and excitement to the casino floor. The newest Fortune Cup™  game will feature eight horses ready to race around the 9-foot wide mechanical track. The race will also be projected in real-time on the digital screen for players to enjoy the game’s action and animations. As one of the few casinos in Las Vegas that celebrates both old and new games, the D decided that the most appropriate location for this exciting new game would be right next to the beloved Sigma Derby. With the two games in the same space, casino goers have the opportunity to enjoy two different horse racing experiences.

Derek Stevens, CEO and owner of the D Las Vegas, explained to VegasNews.com, “we’ve seen such great success with Sigma Derby that it only makes sense for us to find even more creative ways to continue that type of fun. Fortune Cup is our way of paying homage to the games that made us fall in love with Las Vegas in the first place.”
